The Valuation Office is the State property valuation agency responsible for the valuation of all commercial property for the purposes of the levying of commercial rates by Local Authorities. Commercial rates are an annual charge on commercial property to pay for the general provision of services of Local Authorities. Commercial rates are payable on commercial, industrial and some other non-domestic properties. Local Authorities calculate commercial rates liabilities on the basis of valuations provided to them by the Valuation Office.
ANNUAL RATE ON VALUATION 2021
At the Annual Budget meeting of Leitrim County Council held in November, 2020, the Elected Members agreed the Annual Rate of Valuation of .2208 for the ordinary expenditure of Leitrim County Council for the service of the year commencing on 1st January, 2021.
NOTICE OF DEPOSIT OF RATE BOOK FOR INSPECTION AND OF INTENTION TO MAKE THE RATE 2021
NOTICE is hereby given that Leitrim County Council are about to make a County Rate on the property rateable thereto in the County of Leitrim. The Annual Rate on Valuation (ARV) for the service for the financial year ending on 31st December, 2021 is 0.2208.
The Rate Book will be deposited for the inspection of any ratepayer in the offices of Leitrim County Council, Áras-An-Chontae, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim, N41 PF67 during the fourteen days from Wednesday 13th January, 2021, exclusive of Saturdays and Sundays. Due to the current Level 5 Restrictions that are in place, the inspection of the Rate Book by any ratepayer will be facilitated on an appointment only basis. Calculating your 2021 Rates Liability
Your rates liability for 2021 will be calculated by multiplying the Valuation of the property by the “Annual Rate on Valuation” (ARV). The valuation of the property is available on the Valuation Certificate issued by the Valuation Office. The ARV for 2020 is .2208

Customers can avail of a number of payment options to discharge their commercial rates liability as follows:
1. At the Cash Desk, Aras an Chontae, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim
Due to the current Level 5 Restrictions that are now in place, payments of rates via the Cash Desk can only be processed over the telephone on 071/9620005 ext 400.
2. Posting your cheque, postal order, money order. Please ensure payments are made payable to "Leitrim County Council".
3. Credit/Debit card payments: Can be accepted over the phone - please ring (071) 9620005, Ext. 400

Leitrim County Council promotes the use of Payment Plans for commercial rate customers. A payment plan can be put in place in order to discharge your annual rates liability over the financial year. You can choose to pay the regular instalments on a weekly/fortnightly/monthly basis directly from your Bank Account. If you wish to put a payment plan in place, please arrange to contact your Rates Account Manager.
