Pride of Place

IPB Pride of Place, in association with Co-operation Ireland, was set up over 15 years ago. Each local authority can nominate a maximum of three entries, which showcase exceptional efforts made by community groups on a national stage.
This is a prestigious all-island competition with 12 categories, and entries competing within 32 counties for the coveted Winner or Runner-up prize.

The 2019 awards will take place in Kilkenny on 30th November. Judging took place in Leitrim on 15th and 16th July.
Our nominated groups had to do 20 minute presentation, followed by 10 minute question & answer session, followed by a demonstration/tour.
All of them did the county proud and we wish them the very best of luck in the competition.
The three groups nominated by Leitrim Co Council to represent the county in 2019 are:

  • Drumkeeran Friendship Club - Age Friendly Initiative

  • POP Friendship Club
  • Friendship CLub music

In 2018 Leitrim County Council nominated 2 groups to represent Leitrim in this prestigious competition:

Huge Congratulations to Comhairle na nÓg Liatroma who won the "Single Issue" Category with their campaign Use Your Brain Not Your Fists.

Tullaghan represented us in the "Islands & Coastal Communities" Category. This category was won by Inis Meain, Co Galway, with Spanish Point, Co Clare runners up. But Tullaghan did us proud and put our 3 miles of coastline firmly on the map!

“This unique competition is about showing respect and inclusion for every sector in our communities, young, old, rich or poor and creating communities to which the people are proud to say they belong”.
